Analysis

(10 marks)

Your project analysis section is the first stage of the Advanced Higher Computing Science project and is worth 10 marks.

It has four main parts:

  1. Description of the problem (2 marks)

    • Write an outline of your problem.

    • Identify which Advanced Higher concepts you’ll implement and which integrated technology you’ll use.

    • Mention any constraints such as time, resources, technical, or legal issues.

    • Should be 150–300 words.

  2. UML use case diagram (2 marks)

    • Show actors, use cases, and relationships.

    • Include how the integration fits in, for example web pages connecting to a database.

  3. Requirements specification (4 marks)

    • Up to six end-user requirements written from the user’s perspective.

    • Up to 24 functional requirements written from the system’s perspective.

    • Include input validation requirements.

  4. Project plan (2 marks)

    • List tasks for each stage such as design, implementation, testing, and evaluation.

    • Include required resources.

    • Provide realistic timings for each task or stage.

This section sets the foundation for the rest of the project. Your design, implementation, testing, and evaluation all link back to the requirements you define here.
