Scoring Systems By Game

While genres have similar scoring systems, each game usually has a variation with slight differences. This helps keep games competitive.

Rocket league

Rocket League’s scoring system is very similar to traditional sports games.

Players must score in the opposing team’s net. The team with the most goals at the end of 5 minutes wins.

If after 5 minutes it’s a draw, the game enters overtime. The first team to score wins the game.

Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 requires players to attack and defend objectives. Objectives can consist of capturing/defending a point or pushing a payload to a specific location.

Objectives must be achieved within a time limit.

Each match is played over a number of rounds. The team that achieves the most objectives after the all the rounds is the winner of the match.

League of Legends

In League of Legends, teams compete to push three lanes with the aim of destroying the other team’s core and securing the win.

Each lane is defended by towers. When each tower is destroyed, your team gold and experience while also weakening the lane for the rest of the match.

Once all of your opponent’s towers within a lane have been destroyed, your team will then have access to destroy your opponent’s core.

Starcraft 2

Players win by destroying opponent’s base or forcing surrender.

Each player starts with a set number of resources and must gather more to expand their economy, build structures, and produce units.

Victory is achieved by eliminating all your opponent’s structures or forcing them to surrender.
