Hardware: The Internet
While the internet isn’t hardware, your access to the internet directly impacts your ability to play online games.
When connecting your device to the internet, wireless internet is easier as it doesn’t require much setup. However, connecting using an Ethernet Cable creates a more stable connection to the internet, which reduces ping and latency.
There are two metrics to consider when looking at your internet connection. Both of these metrics can be visually seen as ‘lag’ if your connection is unstable.
Ping – The time it takes data to reach a server.
Latency – The time it takes data to reach a server and return back to a device.
