The 3Ts of Esports

At Level 6, you will often be expected to write short essay-style answers about the esports industry and esports games.

These questions are usually worth around 3 marks. To maximise your marks, you need to do more than list ideas. You need to identify the topic, use correct esports terminology, and explain your points clearly.

A useful way to structure your answer is to use the 3Ts of Esports.

Thing

The Thing is what the question is about.

This could be a game, a career, a tournament, a piece of equipment, a skill or an area of the esports industry.

Term

The Term is the correct esports word or phrase linked to the question and Thing.

Using the correct terms helps show that you understand the subject.

Tell

Tell me about it means explaining the Term properly and in detail.

You should explain what the Term means, how it works and why it is important.

The 3Ts of Esports

For many essay style questions you should aim to use the following structure.

Thing → Term → Tell → Term → Tell → Term → Tell

This means, you identify what the question is about, then give three relevant terms and explain each one.
