Control Unit

The Control Unit manages and coordinates everything happening inside the CPU.

It sends out control signals to make sure instructions are carried out in the correct order and that data flows to the right places.

The Control Unit does not process or store data itself. Instead, it acts like a traffic controller, directing the flow of information between the CPU, memory, and other hardware.

National 5 Target

You should be able to describe the role of the Control Unit and explain how it directs the flow of data and instructions.
